In the first 24 hours of raising funds Hunter Hearts has almost tipped $1,000 thanks to the generosity of the Hunter people.

Hunter Hearts is a fundraising initiative that will see “love locks” or padlocks placed in Newcastle CBD on Valentine’s Day 2017. For every $25 donation one lovelock will be padlocked onto a large┬ámetal heart.

1,000s of these lovelocks will be placed in the Newcastle CBD on Valentine’s Day

Hunter Hearts is being co-ordinated by Kerryn Tippett. Kerryn and (husband) Michael lost their daughter, Maddie, in 2014.

“There is no doubt in my mind that the staff at John Hunter Children’s Hospital did everything they could for Maddie” says Kerryn “and they felt out lost just as much as we did.”

Hunter Hearts aim is to raise $30,000 for the Paediatric Unit of the Hospital. Donations can be made via
